“As two of the most significant American artists of the post-war period, Dan Flavin and Donald Judd’s practices have come to define what has been referred to as Minimalist art… The installations in this exhibition are in dialogue with each other and share a distinctive and coherent understanding of the object, the space, and the viewer.” watch here and take a look INSIDE.

Fifty-three international dealers, many of who are exhibiting for the first time in New York, were a part of The Salon this year, the first year of the collection at the Park Avenue Armory curated by Sanford L. Smith & Associates and the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, Paris. The combination of genres through contemporary art and antiques are “the roots of modern design.” Take a look INSIDE with MATERIAL LUST at some of our galleries we are currently lusting after.

Christian Lopez Swafford’s mother’s teacher, Anne Truitt has been a generational inspiration for MATERIAL LUST as we go INSIDE American artist Truitt’s 40 works on paper at the Matthew Marks Gallery in New York. Popularly known for her minimalist vertical sculptures, Truitt said, “i’ve struggled all my life to get maximum meaning in the simplest possible form”. Her commitment to exploring the relationship of line and form is further simplified through her works on paper in pencil and acrylic color fields. Take a look INSIDE.

“To identify and collect the historic design of the 20th century is a way to reflect on how the world once was… contemporary design today is a reaction to that past.” Held at the Park Avenue Armory, PAD is bursting at the seams with the who’s who of the collecting world - such as Paul Kasmin, Galerie du Passage, Christina Grajales Gallery, and 88-Gallery. Take a look INSIDE with MATERIAL LUST at some of our favorite pieces from the pavilion.

SOL LEWITT wall drawings
from afar the squares that fill the gallery walls at the DIA: Beacon look like a series of painted gray scales, but after a closer look one will notice each square is divided by hand drawn pencil lines, horizontally and vertically into four equal parts, in four directions thus creating the different shades.
“LeWitt’s work is no more in thrall to mathematical calibration than to system per se: on those occasions when he does exhaustively pursue seriality and permutation, as in the tow variants of Drawings Series, the result is imbued with a degree of excess such that the limpid cogency and coherence is almost undermined by a gossamerlike luminostiy.” read more about the exhibit here and to see an installation time lapse click here.
